INgonyama uJama kaNdaba

INgonyama uJama (c. 1727–1781) izalwa iNgonyama uNdaba kwiNdlovukazi uSithuli. INdlovukazi uSithuli waba iNldovukazi kwaZulu ngoba wayezalwa ebukhosini bukaMntwana uMpangazitha kaMageba esigodlweni saseMakheni. Bonke abendlu kaMpangazitha base bezakhele ubukhosi ubukhosi babo obabaziwa ngokuthi ubukhosi bakwaShandu.

INgonyama uNdaba yaganwa ngamakhosikazi amaningi kepha mathathu kuphela agqama emlandweni wesizwe samaZulu. INkosi uNdaba yaganwa iNdlovukazi eyazala uMntwana uXhoko wesizwe sakwaBiyela.[1] INgonyama uNdaba yaphinde yagwanwa uNdlunkulu uMaNtshangase owazala uMntwana uMnomo owaba iNkosana yeNdlu yaseGazini.[2] INgonyama uNdaba yaphinde yaganwa yintombi yaseBukhosini baseMambatheni uSithuli kaNkombane wasoSebeni. UNdlunkulu uSithuli wathola izingane ezimbili zabafana okwakunguMntwana uJama kanye noMntwana uNkwelo.[3]

Ukuganwa kweNgonyama uJama kaNdaba

INgonyama uJama yaganwa iNdlunkulu uMaSibiya okaSikhombazana. INdlunkulu okaSikhombazana wazala izintombi ezintathu akaze aphiwa uMntwana womfana. Lezi zintombi kwaba ngabaNtwana uMmama, uMkabayi kanye noMawa. INgonyama uJama yaphinde yaganwa uNongiya. UNdlunkulu uNongiya wazala uMntwana uSojiyisa nowaba iNkosana yaseKhohlo. INgonyama yaphinde yaganwa iNdlunkulu uMaZungu owazala uMntwana uMkhazana.

INgonyama uJama yaphinde yabuyela kwaSibiya yayocela uMntwana uMthaniya kaManyelela ukuba azokhulisa izingane zikadadewabo okaSikhombozana. INdlunkulu uMthaniya yazibula ngengane yomfana ekuganeni kwayo okwakunguMntwana uPhalo owashona esemncane. INdlunkulu yabe isithola omunye uMntwana uSenzangakhona owaba iNkosana yaseNdlunkulu. Nakuba iNgonyama yayizele amadodana amaningi ngoba yayiganwe ngoNdlunkulu abaningi phezu kwalaba ababaliwe kepha kwagqama uMntwana uMkabayi, Senzangakhona kanye noMntwana uSojiyisa. INgonyama uJama yakhothama uSenzangakhona esemncane kakhulu ukuba angathatha isikhundla sobukhosi. UMntwana uSenzangakhona wabe esebanjelwa ubukhosi nguMntwana uMudli kaNkwelo kaNdaba wendlu yaseGazini.

Izigodlo zeNgonyama uJama

INgonyama uJama yakha izigodlo eziningi endaweni yaseMakhosini. Kungabalwa eSiklebheni[4], kwaNobamba[5], kwZindela, kwaZwangendaba naseMqekwini.[6] Isigodlo esigqame kakhulu emlandweni wesizwe samaZulu namuhla isigodlo sakwaNobamba. Lesi sigodlo sigqame kakhulu ngoba ilapha kuvela khona uNomthebe wesizwe sikaZulu.

INgonyama uDinuzulu ekubuseni kwayo yabe seyakha isigodlo sasoSuthu okuyiyona yodwa inhloko nekhanda lezigodlo zakwaZulu. Yiyo kuphela iNdlu lena kwaZulu lapha kuzalwa khona uNomthebe wesizwe.

Kukhona futhi iGazi likaMntwana uZivalele laseMnyandlwini. Isizinda sabaNtwana baseGazini siphakathi kwaseNtshazatshe kanye nakwaCeza. INkosana yabo ebibusa bekunguMntwana uBhota kaMabhekeshiya emzini waseMathongeni endaweni yaseHlonyana (Gluckstadt) [6]

UMntwana uSojiyisa wazalelwa eMqekwini kodwa okwathi ekukhuleni kwakhe wabe esephuma esakha owakhe umuzi owaziwa ngokuthi kukwaMandlakazi. AbaNtwana bendlu kaSojiyisa basekhona namanje iNkosana yabo ebusayo uMntwana uBhekintinta kaPhumanyova kaBhokwe kaZibhebhu kaMaphitha kaSojiyisa kaJama.
